        講座內容:

        The growing availability of electrons from renewable sources and the advances in the storage and management of electricity either on or off grid has led to renewed opportunities for electrochemical methodologies which can exploit the ready supply of clean renewable ‘electrons’ for (bio)chemical conversions. Despite the recent dramatic re-emergence of interest in chemical synthesis using electrochemical methods, there remain many technological challenges and poor fundamental physical understanding on how to control these notoriously complex processes.


        Our group which is based in University of Cambridge at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology and also at the Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise focuses on developing novel (bio)electrochemical synthesis and electricity generation methods. Our work has led to the publication of in excess of 160 academic papers in leading international journals, (eg Nature Energy, ACS, Adv.Mat., etc), been demonstrated at international events (eg London Design Festival, Salon Satellite, Milan design festival), presented at international conferences and featured in popular science publications such as New Scientist.


        The talk will encompass our activities in reactor fabrication and analysis for the design, construction, integration of (bio)catalyst materials and analysis of bioelectrochemical (photo)reactors typically using microengineering techniques.
